L'aventure prend un nouveau tournant
Quand rien ne fonctionne comme prévu chapitre 2 : Après quelques rebondissements, des nouvelles fraîches et importantes pour la suite de l’expédition.
Suite à l’impossibilité d’avoir notre matériel à Upernavik nous avons donc pris la direction d’Ilulissat pour retrouver l’équipement et enfin prendre le départ. Après 3 jours de bataille et quelques kilomètres plus loin, nous sommes contraints de nous raviser et de rentrer à Ilulissat. Nos pulkas dont le poids avoisine la centaine de kg chacune sont bien adaptées pour une progression sur banquise et la traversée d’éventuelles zones d’eau libre mais pas pour les terrains vallonnés de la région d’Ilulissat alors dépourvue de banquise. D’autre part le très faible enneigement nous oblige à racler et endommager les pulkas sur la roche en de multiples endroits. Pour noircir un peu plus le tableau, les températures relativement froides (nuits à -28) révèlent une faiblesse sur mes doigts qui ne se réchauffent plus. Après avis médical, une gelure sur un doigt est très limite. Pour moi plus possible d'affronter le grand froid 24h sur 24 sous risque de perdre quelques phalanges... Je dois changer mon fusil d'épaule et rester dans un village où je pourrai me consacrer à d’autres tâches :je vais donc rester dans la zone d’Ilulissat pour valoriser au mieux les autres axes du projet (sciences et éducation).
Le coup est rude mais je ne peux qu’accepter la situation...
De son côté, Guillaume reprend aujourd’hui la direction d’Upernavik et va tenter de boucler la traversée initiale avec du matériel bien plus léger en évitant la zone de glace médiocre grâce à un départ du premier village au nord d’Upernavik : Aappilattoq.
De tout cœur avec lui. En espérant que la route du nord s’ouvre enfin sous ses skis.

When nothing works as planned chapter 2 :
After some twists and turns, some fresh and important news for the continuation of the expedition.
Due to the impossibility of getting our equipment in Upernavik, we moved to Ilulissat to find the equipment and finally to start.
After 3 days of struggle and a few km later, we were forced to change our plans and return to Ilulissat. Our pulkas, whose weight is around 100 kg each, are well adapted for ice floe progression and the passage through possible open water areas, but not for the hilly terrain of the Ilulissat region, which was then without ice floe. On the other hand, the very low snowfall forces us to scrape and damage the pulkas on the rock in many places. To further darken the picture, the relatively cold temperatures (nights at -28) reveal a weakness on my fingers that no longer warm up.
After medical advice, frostbite on a finger is very borderline. For me it is no longer possible to face the extreme cold 24 hours a day under the risk of losing some phalanges.... I have to change my mind and stay in a village where I can devote myself to other tasks: I will therefore stay in the Ilulissat area to make the most of the project's other priorities (science and education).
It's a hard blow, but I can only accept the situation...
For the other hand, Guillaume is now going back to Upernavik and will try to complete the initial trip with much lighter equipment and by avoiding the mediocre ice zone thanks to a departure from the first village north of Upernavik: Aappilattoq.
With all my heart to him. Hoping that the northern road will finally open under his skis.
